Top ten reasons I love an MFAH (Museum of Fine Arts Houston) Membership (in no particular order):
- It’s a bargain with an annual membership of $70 for individuals, a dual membership of $95 or a family membership of $115. Divide that amount by half a dozen trips over the course of a year – it’s a bargain.
- An annual membership includes tickets to all the special exhibits. All-inclusive.
- With a membership, you don’t feel obligated to spend a lot of time there on each visit. We often go to see one specific exhibit and we are out in an hour.
- Proximity to the rest of the museum district, Hermann park, the zoo and light rail.
- Glasser School of Art including its roof. From the roof, you get amazing views of downtown and the Rice University campus – you can really appreciate how green the campus is from up there. The interior of the building alone with the interior staircase is amazing.
- The museum is quiet and peaceful. Not easy to find a space with those qualities.
- The gift shop. Every visit to the museum includes a visit to the gift shop to buy or just to look.
- They have a movie theatre that shows unique movies not found elsewhere.
- The Cullen Sculpture Garden. Take a book with you. It’s really nice.
- The underground tunnels connecting the buildings with the cool lights. Especially nice on a hot summer day.
Overall, one of the best deals in town. Check it out.
